BAND HISTORY: Matty always loved music, right from when he was a little kid. His parents payed for singing and piano lessons from the age of about five onwards. He started playing guitar when he was twelve, but never got as good at it as he'd have liked. Despite enjoying playing both guitar and piano immensely, singing was his real passion. The band formed afew years ago just through him and some really close friends, and that was that! Icarus takes flight Just happen to be a really close knit group of kids who get on really well, sure theyve had some minor problems, but somehow those party kid attitudes carried them straight on through. They just enjoy making great music and hanging out, take it or leave it pal!

APPEARANCE:
Matty has very dark hair that looks almost black in some lights. He tends to keep it fairly short and it hangs naturally pretty much straight. He has bright blue eyes that always seem to sparkle with excitement and mischief. Although he isnt particularly big built, at 6'2", Matts tall enough to atleast deter a fair few fights in the very least. He packs a pretty good punch and - when the time calls for it - isnt one to shy away from a fight! His muscles are pretty toned, though thats more down to crazed party antics than actually concentrating on keeping in shape. His ears are pierced with 10mm streatchers and he has major dimples when he smiles that Matty finds ever so slightly embaressing when people point out how cute they often find them.
STYLE: Matty will generally wear pretty casual jeans and a tee shirt with some sort of hoodie top with trainers most of the time. He tends not to wear suits and stuff. Occasionally a shirt left open to reveal a teeshirt, but thats about as smart as he usually goes. Although, he can be abit of an idiot and doesnt shy away from a good dare!

PERSONALITY:
To the overwhelming majority of people, Matty is a sweet and caring guy. He is very trusting and almost always willing to lend a hand. He has an inbuilt flirt mechanism which always seems to switch itself on in the preasence of pretty girls, weither their available or very much otherwise. He just cant help it, and doesn’t try to! Laid back and easygoing, Matt isn’t the kind of person to take life seriously. At times he can be a stubborn mule, but he tends to just kinda go with the flow.
A self confessed party animal, he is quite happy to go overboard on the alcohol and general party fever any day of the week! The one thing he would never do is take drugs or smoke. Its one of those little things that most of the other band members know better than to question by now. He is perfectly happy to be there for them when they need it, but Matt hates the feeling of being trapped in any way shape or form. He watched his father waste away to addiction after his mother left, and simply refuses to even risk wasting away like that. Its like his veganism, the second someone tries to force him into or out of something, he just completely turns.
Despite his obvious adversion to less than legal substances – and even smoking – Matt is more often than not the life and soul of the party. He is energetic, lively and passionate and absolutely loves to mess around! He is very honest and , for the most part, pretty loud! However, if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, or for someone just to listen, he is your guy and will comfort you until the cows come home. He is very fair and unjudgemental and is unusually quick to forgive, although forgetting can be abit of a problem. Its pretty difficult to upset or offend him since life really is just one big joke, but if you upset or bad mouth someone he cares about, then god help you! Matty if fiercely protective over his friends and those he considers family and has absolutely nothing against throwing a good punch or two into the mix if he thinks youre asking for it!

RELATIONSHIP HISTORY: Matt, by nature, is terrified of being trapped. This is something that occurs doubly so in relationships. He has had alot of one night stands and wild fumbles in the dark. The longest relationship he was ever in was about 8 months, which was incidentally with the bass guitarist for the band, the riot that little bomb caused nearly split them up, fortuanately everythings good now! However, he is a very caring person and tries his very best to make things work!He definately prefers one nighters and non committals since theres always the easy door out.

MOTHER: Amanda Louise Drayton
FATHER: Sean Andrew Clark, 57, in coma, previously well renound bank manager – Matt loves his father very much, despite his less than graceful decline in health under the influence of various less than legal substances after his mother left before the motorcycle accident. He visits him in his hospital bed at least once a month and talks to him since he is sure his dad would be highly supportive of what he is doing, unlike his seemingly uncaring mother.
SIBLINGS: Angela Dawn Clark ,22,Hairdresser – They get on very well, although she lives in London now, and he almost never sees her.
Lilly Penelope Clark,21,Trainee vet – Lilly and Matt supported each other greatly after their mother left and have a very close bond. Even though she is studying vetinary medicine whilst living in New York under the steam of their mother they talk alot.
HISTORY: Matthew was born in Sheffield on the 12th of August 1989 to proud third time parents Sean Andrew Clark and Amanda Louise Drayton Clark and two even prouder older sisters Angela Dawn Clark and Lilly Penelope Clark. They moved to a small town near LA when he was eight years old and this was where he first met the guys who, unbeknown to him, would later become his best friends and fellow band members of Icarus takes flight. All through his childhood and early teens Matt had singing and piano lessons, picking up guitar when he turned twelve, but never quite getting as good as he would have liked at it. He dropped all lessons when he was 14, but continued to play piano and sing.
When he was 15, Matthews mother left with barely a goodbye. Matt got home from a day with his mates just generally messing around to find his father in pieces in the living room. His sisters gently explained what had happened as their mother had left a note saying that she was leaving with their collegue Lewis Graeme Swan to live in New York. The note also admitted to the affair she had been having with this man for the past 2 and a half years, and a previous one with another co worker of Seans. Needless to say they were devastated. Their father was completely gutted. He turned to drugs of various descriptions and began to wallow in self pity, beating himself up over what had happened, believing that it was somehow his fault and absolutely nothing to do with his cold, proud wife. She phoned three weeks after she left to say that she had a place set up in New York where she was now living with her new man and practically demanded that the kids moved in with her. They all declined less than politely, bitterness being a common feeling amongst the siblings. She called every week after that for updates and to ask them again to move in with her, always receiving the same answer. When Matthew was 17, and it was just him and Lilly still living at home – though the state their father had descended to, they may as well have moved out – when it happened. Their father, now a mere husk of the man he had been, decided that it was all too much for him. He signed the divorce papers before taking a reckless trip on a hired motorbike which he deliberately crashed. He fell into a coma and has not as yet woken up.
After this their mother made yet another plea that they moved in with her, claiming that even if their father did wake up, he was clearly too unstable to look after them. Again, they sourly declined. Matt and Lilly lived in their fathers house together until he turned 19, when she moved away to go to vetinary college in New York, an education which she had always longed for and finally allowed their mother to fund.
The band formed afew years ago but have only recently got signed. And that is pretty much it, as they say, the rest, is history!
