”That'll be $13.50”
Iori put the book into a plastic bag mentally cringing at the old lately purchasing a Kama Sutra book. Her shift was almost over, it being nearly nine pm and the hippie girl just wanted to go home and have something to eat, practice a new song all that jazz. She pulled at the braid her hair was currently in and glanced over at a couple of preteen boys flipping through magazines. Business was slow given the hour and she was getting bored just sitting her. She turned the page of her own Pyramid Collection catalog, taking a sip of pomegranate vitamin water.
The girl had been there since 3pm. Six hour closing shift, not to bad on money, but the job meant that she couldn't practice as much as she wanted to. At least she didn't have the morning shift when she was too out of it to function. At least she had tomorrow and the next day off. Nevaeh would be happy about that so they could work on their new song, it still needed lyrics. The only reason she really had this job was because she needed a more steady way to get money to pay for her tiny apartment, and the hours were flexible for gigs, plus the boss was way cool. And sometimes they even had small bands play to help bring in business. Her and Nevaeh had played here a couple times, it made a few extra bucks at least.
Iori was distracted by the buzzer on the door going off and she looked up at the new customer.

Alexxis was... drunk. Well, she had spent a large quantity of her time sitting on her own with a whole bottle of Russian vodka, chased with diet coke. The reason behind this? None that she really cared to divulge with the world. Yet also ones that warranted the use of alcohol as a numbing remedy from everything that had happened. The tell-tale bruises of someone else having hit her a couple of hours ago, remained clear as crystal on her pale face as she wandered, rather aimlessly, through the streets of Fairview. It was not in her nature to get drunk and wander around, yet here she was. Doing so. It was off behaviour for the seventeen year old.
Meandering around, doing her very best to avoid inanimate objects, Alexxis Rodriguez headed in the general direction of the mall, tossing the empty vodka bottle in to a nearby trashcan - or what she thought was one, but was instead a mail box. How she had managed to get that done as a mystery to all. The brunette then skidded off from the mailbox come trash can and made her way into a rather empty mall. Why would it be empty? Well, because it was pretty darm late at night and people were obviously sleepy from being up too long.
Alexxis pulled her jacket around her slender frame a little more and shuffled around; walking into things on occasions. A bench here, the fountain there; a wall somewhere in between, before finding herself walking into a door that opened and stepping into a... big, brown eyes tried to focus on the contents of the store.
A book store... She said in her head, squinting her eyes at the person behind the counter, stumbling over nothing and almost toppling over into a shelf.

]Despite the fact that Iori had lived in Fairview all her life, she didn't really know that many people. Thats what happens when you don't go to public school. The few friends that she did have consisted of Nevaeh and the rest of the band, James and a few other random people around town. So it was understandable that she didn't recognize the girl that walked into the store.
She didn't think anything of it at first and went back to looking at her catalog until she heard things getting knocked over and she looked up again to see the girl bumping into the shelves. Sighing, she slipped on her flip flops as she had taken them off when she was behind the counter, and moved toward the girl.
“Excuse me? Could you not knock things off the shelves?”
It wasnt until she got closer that she noticed the girl was stumbling not running into random things on purpose.
“Are you ok?” She reached a hand out, to help steady her.

Alexxis was all too aware of the effects of alcohol, glad that she hadn't drunk as much as she had last time things had gotten out of hand at her house. Mind you, that had been quite some time ago and rarely ventured back to that memory, especially not since she had left Manhattan to come here. She had promised her step-mother that she would cease her drinking... but that had been an empty one because she didn't like listening to her, not at all.
At the moment she was trying to not knock things off of the shelf, but it didn't seem to be working and several moments later, a couple of books were laying on the floor, open and upside down. Alexxis bowed her head at them, looking slightly confused because they hadn't been there a moment ago - she hadn't realised that she had been the one to knock them off the shelf.
Excuse me? Could you not knock things off the shelves? The brunette brought her head back and looked over to the female behind the counter. There was a rather incredulous look across her pale features. One of her hands seemed to have wormed it's way to her chest, a single, slender finger unfolded, pointing directly at her chest as if to say 'who me?', which she didn't say. Mostly because she wasn't sure if she'd be able to say a thing... just yet.
Are you ok? The same voice called out to her. Clearer, more distinct and... loud. Alexxis blinked, she looked up and stumbled back a couple of steps in fright; narrowly avoiding colliding with yet another shelf. A hand came out to steady her. Alexxis tried to stay still, she looked at the female and nodded in response. She wouldn't talk, at least not yet. As usual.

Putting a hand on the girls shoulder she gently pushed her down so that she was sitting on the floor leaning against a shelf, finally smelling the alcohol on her. Ok, so that was a good reason to be knocking things off the shelves.
“Can you tell me your name?” she said, quietly, knowing that her voice was probably loud to the girl at the moment, but she seemed unable to comprehend speech or just not able to answer. Iori glanced at her watch, it was only a few minutes till nine, she could close up early. “You just sit here for a minute, and i'll be right back ok?”[/colir rightful or] Making sure that she wouldn't fall over, Iori moved to pick up the books that had fallen off the shelves, putting them back to their rightful place. She quickly shut and locked the store gate blocking it from the rest of the mall and counted the money made for the day, putting the cash drawer in the safe before grabbing her bag and heading back over to the girl, hoping she had sobered up slightly in the ten minutes that she had been sitting there. The same hand that had come out to steady her was now on her shoulder, pushing her downwards so that she came to stop on the floor. The brunette was confused. She had no idea why she had to sit on the floor, but took it as a gesture of safety on both parties... well, she had been crashing into shelves and knocking things down, so maybe it was a good idea that she was now on the floor. Plus, it was a welcome change from having to stand up. Alexxis embraced it.
Can you tell me your name? What a stupid question, of course she couldn't tell the female, the female's name, she hadn't come up in conversa--- oh, wait. Alexxis misheard. She had been in the middle of shaking her head when she realised what was said and nodded slightly instead. "Of course I can, that's an absurd notion; of course I could tell you my name; just depends on whether I want to or not." The brunette spoke, clearly drunk as her speech was slurred somewhat. "It is Alexxis and... okay? I don't think I'll be going anywhere, anytime soon. The world is spinning, I think." The brunette wasn't usually so chatty. At least not when she was sober; alcohol does weird things to people.
She sat there for several minutes, or was it ten? Alexxis had lost count after counting to sixty in her head. Instead she had focused on a part of the floor in front of her. So intrigued in it that she'd actually leaned forwards, ending up face down on the floor with carpet in her mouth. Yum!

It would seem that Iori's hopes werent happening as the girl fell face forward to the ground. Hurrying over, Iori helped her back up, holding her there. She wondered if this was what she was like when she was drunk. But according to Nevvie, she was a very giggly drunk.
“Alright then...wanna tell me where you live, so I can take you home? Got someone there to take care of you?” If not that Ri would have no choice but to take Alexxis back to her own home and get her sobered up some. At least then she would know that she was alright, it would worry her to know end if she didn't know.
“I've got some vitamin water, think you can hold it down?”[/yellow]

The floor was actually rather comfortable, despite having been drunk and in no mood to divulge anymore information - not that she probably would be able too anyway. Alexxis, though, did find that she was in a very uncomfortable position, what with her legs being in an awkward place. She smiled slightly and closed her eyes, awaiting the return of the female who was helping her out... why was she helping? The brunette didn't know.
Alright then...wanna tell me where you live, so I can take you home? Got someone there to take care of you?
Alexxis shook her head and looked up, after having been sat up by the returning female. "I'd really rather not, if it's all the same." She slurred, pulling her legs around so that they were in front of her, instead of behind her. "I'd get yelled at for being drunk, by the wicked step-mother of the... east." That was true, her step-mom was likely to shout at her for coming home drunk, whilst her father would simply ignore it. "I'm not going home tonight, James!"
I've got some vitamin water, think you can hold it down?
"I should like to think so, yes. I'm not incredibly drunk, just slightly... epic." Alexxis looked up at th girl and smiled. Her eyes were twinkling, hiding secrets behind them that she did not wish to tell anyone about. "Oh, I wish Tj was here." She mumbled, pushing her hair behind her ear and crossing her legs. "Then we could play on the swing-set, again, together." The brunette rubbed her eye, she was a very talkative drunk person, so much different from her usual self.
"AH! Stranger, I regret to inform you th- tha- that I... do not know your name! Care to share?!"

So she didnt want to go home. Ok then. “Ok, I guess i'll take you back to my place then.” she said handing Alexxis the bottle of water. She waited for her to take a sip before taking it back and shoving it into her shoulder bag and hosting that over her shoulder. She stood and held out a hand to help her up.
“You sure you dont want to go home? Last chance before I take you to my house.” She wanted to be absolutely sure, not wanting Alexxis to wake up in the morning and not know where she was then freaking out completely.

"I dun wanna go home!" Alexxis said with an indignant tone, she reached around her back and tugged at the bottom of her hair, trying to get it to move, but it had no effect, so she left it alone and concentrated on something else, instead. Okay, I guess I'll take you back to my place then. The brunette shook her head gently and clapped her hands together. "Buut, that would be, liek, impostering!" She said with a nod of her head, unsure if that was the right word or not. "I dun wanna impose!" She added, taking the girls hand.
You sure you don't want to go home? Last chance before I take you to my house. The brunette took the girls hand and got up. "Imposterrr," she mumbled struggling to keep herself in an upright position as she clung to the girls hand. "what is yerr name, girliee?" She asked, since the name hadn't been given and she really wanted to know it!
