all that could be seen in the field was the tiny girl currently laying down amongst the grass. that tiny girl was rachael. yes, tiny was the right word as she spread out at four foot and eleven inches. if you were very far away, you would think this girl was dead and burried, not coming back from the dead. but, if you were a little closer you would notice her chest slowly moving up and down, breathing every breath as if she was savouring the fresh air. she was to be honest, being surrounded by chain smokers backstage wasn't very good for this little girl's lungs, it was almost as if she was detoxing them.
although she was just sitting there in a bra and a hoodie, this girl was actually pretty warm. why was she dressed like this? well, the honest answer was that she was lazy. she had just come out of her shower and she couldn't be bothered to find some clean clothes. the only clothes that were clean were the ones that were lying on her bed, these jeans and this hoodie, so she left home in these clothes. the fact that she wasn't dressed didn't bother her in fact, she sometimes felt that you needed to be out of your clothes to feel alright, not in a weird streaker way, but in a being naked is natural kind of way, after all, that is how you come into this world.
a small smile appeared on her lips as she slowly opened her eyes, humming along to the song that was pumping through her ears. she was so happy to be alone and listening to music with no distractions. don't get her wrong, she loved her friends and didn't know what she would do without them, but right now she was happy in her own little world. her humming grew a little louder and she could now hear it over the music in her ears. she just sometimes wished that she could do exactly this, writie a song and let the whole world hear it, but she couldn't, not only had she promised herself but she couldn't, every time she picked up that old six string, the memories and tears came flooding back.
her lips parted slightly as the words quietly escaped them. she was almost whispering along to the sounds of seether, a band she had followed quite religiously as of late. she couldn't help but sing along to this song as it was one of those songs that meant so much to her lately, she was finally happy in life and she had risen above all this horrible pain in her life. sure, she still had little down spots, but other than that, everything was perfect, as perfect as it could be anyway. her and her friends were having small problems, but everything would be sorted after a while, she was sure of it because everything worked out in the end really.
her gaze shifted to the sky, staring up at the still sky, the pretty stars, the full moon and the small whispy cloud. the bridge of the chorus was playing, matching the stillness of the night. her mind drifted to the thought of tomorrow. she knew that tomorrow would be even greater than today because she would be spending her time with her friends and doing something she loved. oh yes, life was pretty sweet for this girl, she was too happy right now, the euphoria of life was just making her feel so good right now, she couldn't stop herself. all that would make this moment perfect was one of her best friends laying down next to her, ready to burst into the chorus.
"call your name every day when i feel so helpless, i've fallen down but i'll rise above this, rise above this," she sang a little louder than before. she just didn't care who heard her right now because she was enjoying herself. all her bad memories had been wiped from her mind, all that was there was her good memories of layla and the good times with the bad. the song and the sky was just making him feel a hell of a lot better than she had been lately. all she needed to make his moment complete would be dr. pepper with a straw so she didn't have to raise her head. she was happy in her own little world. you could even say that everything was magic...
