Caydensighed and slid down the wall that she was leaning against. She had only been working for 30 minutes, but in that time she had already changed 7 bedpans, transferred 3 patients to their floors, and bathed one of them. She was exhausted.
‘Why am I doing this again?' she thought running a hand through her brunette locks, 'Oh yea...stupid need of community service hours.'
"Cayden can you help Mr. Murphy get to bed please?" a passing nurse asked.
"Sure thing Mrs. Smith," Cayden flashed a fake smile before groaning, "Lord just shoot me now," she said hitting her head against the wall. She had been doing that a lot of the late, maybe the world WAS out to get her.

A sudden sound of metal items clinking together, a loud thud, a muffled scream and then the voice of a female, rang out in the middle of the night.
"... SHIT!"
Harlequin Powers had been trying to recreate the art from the previous night on the rickety fire escape that she'd told her best friend, not too long ago. It had been a pretty stupid stunt, but she needed to get down there before he got home.
Unfortunately, Leaf had fallen and the result was her now flat on her back and in pain, a grimace spread across her now pale features as she attempted to assemble her facial features into something that wasn't pain.
Her arm was hurting and there was a shooting pain up her side and around her back. It felt as though her back was on fire and her scar had split open or something. Biting down on her lip, Leaf struggled to pick herself up, wincing.
She knew that she had to get to the hospital, but the problem was how. Well, she had her car keys and her car was just a few feet from where she was sitting. Could she make it? Leaf thought that she could, it wasn't that far and she'd been through far worse pain than this.
It took her several moments, but she eventually managed to get into her car and started driving to the hospital. If she had known where her friends were then she probably would have gone to one of them for help, but she wasn't too sure that they were in their own places and didn't want to trouble them for help.
After what seemed like forever, Harlequin pulled into the hospital parking lot and practically fell out of her car. Locking it, she hoisted herself up by the wing mirror and slowly made her way into the foyer of A&E. Looking around for someone to help her, or at least get her a seat, Leaf held her side, biting hard on her lower lip as she struggled to maintain an upright position, breathless.
She hardly made it past a brunette before she slid to the floor.

Cayden was about to get up and go help Mr. Murphy, that’s when she noticed the girl. The girl looked to be about her age and in a great deal of pain.
“Oh my gosh are you okay?” she asked, but not waiting for an answer she hauled the girl up and dragged her down the hall. Cayden knew this wasn’t the smartest way to handle her but she didn’t really have many options. The Hospital was booked to the tee and this girl picked the wrong night to wind up in the ER. ‘Okay breathe Cady, ‘she thought, ‘She is so totally going to be okay’ Thinking that It’d probably be best to talk, to her keep her awake Cayden said, “Hi, I’m Cayden, I don’t know how you ended up in this predicament but you sure did pick one heck of a night to come here. Granted you probably didn’t come here by choice, but-“realizing that she was rambling she let out a shy smile, “Sorry.”
The lack of conversation coming from her was really freaking her out, and she was on the verge of panicking. Finally reaching the end of the hall Cayden let out a breath of fresh air. She had made, with the girl still alive at that fact. “Mrs. Smith!!!!!!” She yelled trying to get the nurses attention, “I need help…well not me personally but the person I’m helping needs help!!!” Mrs. Smith rushed over and helped the girl on to a gurney, and rolled way. Hopefully she would be okay.

Oh my gosh are you okay?
Leaf thought this was a bit of a dumb question and felt as though she should answer her anyway, but she couldn't find her breath at the moment, let alone her voice. Heck, she couldn't even find the damn strength to nod her head, even slightly. Instead she just continued to slide down to the floor until she was hauled upwards. This caused her some physical pain, it just added to what she was in and she suddenly found her voice...
"Ohshit.." she mumbled gently, her voice quivering a semi-tad.
She could see that the hospital was pretty damn packed and wondered if there was any chance she could get someone to look at her for all of five minutes. Then the girl who'd just hauled her upwards started to talk and Leaf listened, but didn't really pay much attention.
Hi, I'm Cayden, I don't know how you ended up in this predicament but you sure did pick one heck of a night to come here. Granted you probably didn't come here by choice, but-
The girl stopped, Leaf looked up, confused. She wondered if something was the matter and chewed on her lower lip. Sorry. What? Sorry for what? Now she was even more confused. She hadn't been paying the slightest bit of attention to the brunette and here she was, apologising? What was that all about?
Eventually though, they reached the end of the hall and Leaf was slightly more than relived. However, the brunette shouted; something that Leaf wasn't really expecting that. The taller girl jumped and turned her head in several different directions, looking for this 'Mrs Smith.'
I need help... well not me personally but the person I'm helping needs help!
An older woman came rushing out of nowhere and helped her onto a gurney. A light flashed in her eyes and she blinked, raising her hand to shield her eyes as she laid on an uncomfortable bed, being poked and prodded by the same woman. Leaf thought she had several arms, like an octopus, it was really quite scary if you thought about it.
"Ahh, m'fine. I just fell off a fire escape..."

Cayden stared down the path Mrs. Smith took the girl, 'Well that was eventful, in a non epic sort of way,' she mused. Turning to walk down the way she came, she thought about all that occurred in the past 24 hours, she had had a busy day today and now she was starving.
Changing directions she made her way to the cafeteria to eat the crap that they called food. Why was it that on the days that she didn't eat breakfast, the craziest things happened? She sighed and rested her head against the table. God she was tired, and she hadn't even been at work that long.
She pulled herself up and out of the seat she was sitting, getting ready to get back to work when Mrs. Smith walked up to her. "Hey Cayden, don't worry about your friend, she just fell off of a fire escape."
"What fri-Oh! You mean the girl I brought with me, what room is she in?"
"Room 128" Cayden nodded and walked to the room in question. Without even knocking she entered the room, with a single statement, "Now thats an interesting story to tell the kids."

Harlequin had had enough with the nurse prodding and poking her to see where she did and didn't hurt, it was thoroughly annoying to say the very least. At least when she'd finished doing everything she 'had to do', she left the room and Harlequin to her own devices with strict instructions to stay put in the bed. Like she could move her limbs at the moment, anyway.
Falling off a fire escape was a sure-fire way to get herself killed, though last time she'd fallen, only a bruise had been a scar from her 'battle'. This time there was more, much more. Maybe it was because she'd fallen from a higher place and hit the ground in a different position. Whatever it was, she was lucky to be alive, still.
She just sat there on the bed, looking up at the ceiling and keeping as quiet as was humanely possible for her.
Now thats an interesting story to tell the kids.
Leaf jumped and looked around to find a female standing in the room. Where the hell had she come from?! She wasn't there a moment ago, was she?
"Doubt it. With the way I am at the moment I'll doubt I'll live to see my twentith birthday" Harlequin sighed and tried to pull her knees up to her chest so that she could hug them, and herself. "Death by fire escape.. how exciting, right." Her tone was sour and her eyes were darker than usual.
